This Morning by J. P. Daviesthrough the haze of drunken eyes
from trying to forget you
images shift and spin as I lose you
all over again.
hubris has reached this
the point of no reason
adding my tears to the rain
gifting them to you
the agony that dances across my eyes
flirts across your tongue
and slips forgotten
to my bedside.
this morning I'll pretend
that missing you isn't literal;
but this confession will stand
a testament to my loneliness
a reminder of how much I want you
how much I need you
how much I care
how much
despite everything I've said and done
I love you. 05/23/2006 Posted on 05/23/2006 Copyright © 2025 J. P. Davies

Posted by Julie Adams on 05/24/06 at 05:09 PM sweet piece...yearning is truly the word that came bounding into my mind as I read (like Lori)...this melancholy yearning pulls at the humanity of the reader...LOVE stanza 3...the "I love you" at the end might be understood, but that is a subjective idea...peace, *jewels* |
