the same consistency

by Frankie Sanchez

"there are mustard packets," he says,
"all along the sink in the bathroom."
and i make some low-volume comment
about yellow blood
and tell him how back in the day
in old black and white films
they used
chocolate syrup
to replicate blood.
i use the word consistency.
"it has the same consistency,
visually," i say. liquid texture.
and he gestures to a red-ish stain
on the linoleum flooring
beneath us,
and we have some leftist conversation
about the sand
in the middle east.
it's all relative.
and he makes some remark about
the right wing party patrol
and i'm all enthusiastic,
"party?"
i wasn't invited to a party.
and all at once my wings are clip/
ped.

this is great! Loved it thru and thru, title too...the dialogue, usually difficult to pull off, flows effortlessly herein, guiding the ribon of thought as it dances through the narrators consciousness, well done...nice to read u again, peace, *jewels*
