New Love

by Scott Cadence

I waited
before I met you
through the linger of soundscapes
never a full breath exhaled
on the eve
of a 6 year ending
I was tired
of being cautious

So in you came
close to earth,
and you brought me down
from the heights
where I was hiding
from the truth of the matter

And our time spent together
speaks clearly but quietly
of this attraction -
and if you listen carefully
to the intercession
there is a request
for happiness

I've learned a bit about myself
these last few weeks,
how quick I am to change the mood
and jump to my favorite track
but with you at my side
have taught me to play it by ear
and ride out an emotion
to it's beautiful end

And since summer has come
dancing in with waves of heat,
from a strangers view
we are framed in half drawn windows
and always late
from our 30 minute showers together,
with your hands laid atop of my own
your energy and intentions
are like a solar field
moving through me

When I am finally alone
I still hear the inflection of your voice
looping like a song in the background
and It's hard to believe
I am doing this all over again
allowing someone to constantly be on my mind
influencing and redirecting my situation

You've given me the courage
to embrace something real in myself,
accepting a world of difference
I am speeding into new love
traveling without a track to pace myself upon
and though I am fearful of crashing
there is no art in avoiding it
and no point to continue
without this beauty

You really dive into this with full speed. Into your own persona.. and how that fits in with another person. I enjoyed the read :)

I love the intimate evolution of this piece, reflective and intricate...my eyes were fastened to the page, wandering down the path of your poetry...left in the resolve of the last two stanzas...just beautiful...all the best, peace, *jewels*
