A Pin Dropped

by Trisha De Gracia

there's a stilling of the world.

the place between raised step and urban street.

a hush amongst 6 billion simian sighs.

a tall cold glass on the sill in dead august moonlight

and careful starry silence painted through

and through it all

The universe has stopped it's beating

and everywhere a pulse has swished and stilled.

i don't love you
like i thought
i always would

and yet

... and yet

i could-

and still

i won't deny

I Love You.

Author's Note: I thought I'd be in love forever. I couldn't picture that passionate infatuation stopping until it stopped cold. And now I don't love like that, I love in a smiling, knowing sort of way I think. Something more than friendly. Maybe friendly with a past and a different sort of intimacy. But the realization is amazing.

Hi Trisha. This is deathly quiet, except for the clear voice of your final lines. Nice writing.
