Sleep

by Tony Young

Sleep
within and shine out
from your bed of gold
your surround
red roses
so I'm told
sleep
for your shoulders
wept into her hand
your band
petaled with honesty
my favourite flower
sleep
for you came back to me
you pretty little thing

Well, sleeping within is the state most of us are already in, eyes open but in our dream world slumbering, unaware it's a dream. But then we suggest to "sleep within" yet again, slipping into yet another dream within a dream within all the other umpteen dreams within dreams we occupy already, never knowing until we walk out of one and into another what is, stretching on and on infinitely, like a hall of mirrors...I'm not quite sure what this abstract painting expresses, but what I SEE is that to smell those roses, to get slightly closer to that flower of "honesty" is not to sleep within yet again turning out the light, but to WAKE, walk out of that dream, REALIZING, and BECOMING THE LIGHT - for that is a true RETURN. I like your abstract approach, one can derive so many different interpretations depending on the angle from which one happens to be viewing.
