A General Study Of Butterfly Nervosa by Vere MantratriadFull title: A General Study Of Butterfly Nervosa or The difference between love and that "ooh I think I might fancy you" feeling
I.
A learned word seems logical;
the breakdown of its origin,
the true reason for its naming
becomes trivial due to association.
Just as hearing your voice
becomes the normality
without knowing the whole story of you.
II.
I'm sleeping with devices
as a way to remind myself of it,
I'm barring all dreaming
to prepare myself for it,
I'm repeating words in my head
to prove it to you -
but I don't know what it is.
III.
As rain falls down on tin roofs
I can hear a rhythm much like my own;
of a heart filled to the brim,
calling out into the distance.
What is this morse code
I've taken to repeating?
and if it is a message to you,
can you tell me what it's saying?
IV.
If I might be so bold,
I also might be wrong;
so I'll take it slow in my own way:
by speeding far ahead,
then coming to
complete stop,
reverse and repeat.
I go ahead,
but you seem steady -
I like the way we end up
on the same road
at two completely different speeds.
