The Irony of the Bloodroot

by Michael Faraday

Goose shit and feathers
reside as fluffy tumbleweeds
atop my clover
my much-anticipated view
obscured by Henry Jamison
who lay down
beside me in aught six
his words on tablet
blocking my southern exposure
and how ironic that the [medicinal]
bloodroot on my manicured bed
flourishes and extends
its orange-red rootlets
well into his coveted plot
reaching its tentacles
through a millenia
of rich sod and red clay
only to find him
and his cure too late.

Author's Note: Some believe that the root of the bloodroot plant can cure some cancers...
