I WANT A CIGARETTE!

by Joan Serratelli

I don't want
to light up
i swear I don't
but my insides are
YELLING: PLEASE
HAVE A SMOKE

I've been so good
haven't smoked
in over a week
but I've been miserable
I must confess

I wake up
in the morning
upset and confused
my body just doesn't
know what to do

Yes, I need a ciggie
quite bad
but i cannot give in
...at least not yet

Light up a smoke and all the suffering and misery you have experienced for the past week will be for nought. Strength sister. The next week is several iotas easier than the last. Ram a nicotene gum if the urge becomes overwhelming. Going three-quarters insane is just a necessary by-product of withdrawl. Try smoking celery. Put the death grip on Philip Morris & R.J. Reynolds.

Niquitine Lozenges, gods medicine for the demon weed... worked for me in a big way... 1 year, 6 months, and 23 and a half hours ago... the downside is that they turn u into the archaetypal, nightmare ex-smoker, can u tell?

Hi Joan, I'm back for a while, when I saw the title of your poem I just had to read it, and then Ijust had to comment. After smoking 5 packs a day, I finally got fed up with being a slave to nicotine. I ordered some Zyban, a prescription medication, which I used in the past twice and both times I quit for a year and a half. I have now been smoke free for 1 year, nine mons, 3 weeks, 4 days, 7 hrs,9 minutes, and 25 secs. The reason I know down to the seconds how long I've been smober is because I downloaded a neat little program called 'Silk Quit 2'. It gives you all of the following info. Total smober time, total amount of money you've saved in that time, how many cigarettes you have not smoked, and how many days you've added to your life so far. The program is real tiny and sits in your windows tray at the bottom of your pc. Seeing this info. everyday really motivated me to keep going at least one more day. I know everyone's different, But the Zyban makes it the easiest quit I've ever done. I ordered a 90 day supply for a $123.00, and that's all she wrote. If you have any questions, email me at juneroldan@earthlink.net or call me at 727-645-3864. So far I have saved $5,987.41. It's so worth it. I hope you'll at least consider it. Good luck whatever you decide.
