grammar w/o lexicon by Richard Paezlines break/in(g)
punctuated equilibrium
meter broken
by hard returns
enjambment
the words don't matter anymore—
just the patterns
i have found myself
again
conjoined to split infinitives—
not a person anymore
an algorithm
You did this to me
You are legion
contexts and constructs
structures i have attached myself to
to give myself meaning
i've grown perverted:
an inverted
double-negative
elliptical subject
in a world
of passive predicates
serving indirect objects
i am grammar without lexicon
and You have made me this way
You the plurality
me the singularity
begging
for punctuation.

Posted by Bruce W Niedt on 07/16/06 at 04:56 PM Nicely done - have you read my poem in the same vein, "Past Participle (or, Breaking Up with the English Teacher)? A little more tongue-in-cheek than yours, but the same concept. And congrats on POTD! d:-) |
