On the train to Philly

by Bradd Howard

a train of thought
and the whispered promise
of a reunion
somewhere other than here.

Cuddle puddles and the giggles of travel weary feet.
We have come together
hands clasped
ring around my rosey
expectance...
a darkening eye
a twitching mouth
a quivering crotch.
What do we do with these gifts?

Unpacking our bags of uncertainty
we pull out crumpled socks, wadded up shirts,
worn out pens.
wrinkled ink stained promises.
we've come home.

I am again in awe of your ability to meld mere words with human emotion.
