This is Love

by Christopher Shin

I remember love as
free and caring.
Yet all the desires I
have melts with age.

No longer with vivid
colors of bright and gold,
but bleaked with streaks
of broken hope.

Bitter tears taste like
wine mixed with blood
from chipped glasses
that stab at the root
of my youth.

Remember me as I remember you,
but even memories fade.
Slowly first and violently,
I plunge forward in
future causes.

Love has little hold
on broken souls,
especially when all
we have are lost
forgotten dreams.

So drink with me once,
and forget with me.
As I drown out all voices
of promises you said you'll
keep.

Sadness that trembles through every movement…expressed so well that I feel and taste every bittter drop…
Rich with honesty and emotion, this poem.

too bad that a lot of people experience these kinda feelings and believed that it was love. Very well worded and so chillingly sad. I especially loved the "bitter tears" stanza! Great read.
