Clear Intentions by Joan SerratelliYou have made your intentions
crystal clear - you no longer
want me- you no longer need me-
you no longer care
It's a bitter pill to take,
but it did go down
and now I will
have my say
I cared about you
deeply-once upon
a time
but those times
seem so far away
You played with my heart
until it was broken
and then you just walked away
leaving me to clean up
the mess you made
I cleaned it up
and washed away
all the shattered dreams
(you do remember
the dreams we once shared)
They are now gone
along with a piece of my heart
that piece is yours
just keep it
like a trophy
on a shelf
And when you look
at it, remember what
we once shared
"a love that could have lasted years"

Posted by Rula Shin on 04/25/06 at 06:19 PM The struggle to turn a person that once was a SOMEBODY into a NOBODY seems daunting, but is not impossible. The heaviest burden is that of not being able to bury our dead, dragging their dead weight in chains around our ankles. I see in the series of recent poems that the subject is on the right path to recovery and neutralizing this little insignificant ant's bite. Nicely written. |

I read positive determination and hope between the lines here. Well done! |
