First Corinthians 13:13 by Darren Swift
Georgias ground opens up once more
amidst tears softly spilled.
She is gone, her battles won
and lost, she joins her husband
in rest eternal; well earned.
The crowds gather, leaders,
followers, everyman;
they all kneel, her regal air
matched by name. martin welcomes
her home; Georgia on their mind.
And when they have all left
the centre will remind us,
the flame which burns between
is a symbol for all mankind;
for all who have a dream.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 07/27/06 at 04:59 AM I had to go look up the verse in the Bible, because I was unfamiliar with it, but I can see where the title lends itself to the final stanza's meaning and that in the rest of the poem.
