Now There Are None

by Joan Serratelli

This morning when I woke up
I had to face the truth
no more cigarettes,
I had smoked the last one
and there would be no more
for me~ the promise that I had made
was now fulfilled and final

But sitting here
I can't help but wonder
if I can keep up the fight
Addiction is a terrible thing
and I will not know
if I can keep away
from those darn cigarettes
or is this just a game I played

I have won the battle
but only time will tell
if I can continue to fight
and ultimately, win the war

Author's Note: Yes, I am now cigarette free; for the first time in 20 years. I feel absolutely....MISERABLE!!!

No going back dear, it's been 2 weeks for me...no going back for either of us. INCREDIBLE ACHIEVEMENT JOAN! :-)

Well, you sound defeated before you could celebrate the WIN.
