Imagining Rain

by Richard Vince

When I glance in some directions
I see rain falling, lightly and vertically,
Onto the scene before my eyes.

Sometimes it is believable, but
Sometimes it purports to be falling
From the roof above my head,
As if I have a personal supply
Of clouds pursuing me.

Perhaps my subconscious is trying
To tell me that my drought is over;
That the sweet spring showers I have
Recently found myself in are now
Taking hold of the words I write
And starting the avalanche that
This barren winter has stored.

I feel as though some part of me
Has awakened from hibernation
And is seeking to discard the
Seasonal insulation and become
Agile and unprotected once again.

I am once again excited by the
Unpredictability of this season
And the way it provides for
The conflicting requirements of
The life it nurtures.

Like the awakening colours,
I thrive on all of this;
It revives my soul so that
I may sing, and feel alive again.

Beautiful words, makes me think of walking outside in the spring rain, though that may be just because it is what I really want to do right now, at any rate it fit my mood well. great work as always!

I love this piece and couldn't agree more with the sentiment (being from Luton)...this poem is an instant favorite for me...the flow drips images into your lap, and by poems end you are reveling in the shower it embodies...the awakening has began for us all, but I love that it feels like a personal triumph, both for the subject and the reader...a poem that connects the wet dots, in many ways...peace to u and happy writings/readings...*jewels*

Spring showers refresh the earth the way tears refresh a spirit. I sense that the rain falling is to awaken the self-hibernation from emotions that for sometime were difficult to express or feel. I've been there and know the feeling.
