nestled nowhere

by Bethany Lee

emptied of hollow descriptions,
mundane tasks never end
the tangible world wins.

attentions spans lost.
is it Time that has wandered away,
or just Us?

entertained by the beautiful,
two-dimensional.
I have yet to meet a flawless face.

we are settled into place
nestled next to what we know
uninterested in what we don't.

commonplace to curse
and pace like lions
in a squared cage with three walls.

oh, the places we could go
if we weren't so focused on constriction, the unfairness of it all.

Hi Bethany. Your final strophe could be a poem in itself! Nice work. Thanks.
