Back to the Drawing Board

by Jane E Pearce

The Queen troops the colours in London

riding side saddle in her seat,

looking royal and ceremonious.

(It's a shame she has to excrete)

Easter Sunday on Fifth Avenue,

New Yorkers take to the street,

elegant in their finery.

(It's a shame they have to excrete)

Inauguration day  in Washington

"the swearing In" is complete,

everyone dressed in dignity.

( It's a shame they have to excrete)

Society ladies at afternoon tea,

dressed elegantly when they meet,

talking softly over the crumpets.

(It's a shame they have to excrete)

God made our bodies marvelous

from our head down to our feet,

but somehow, I feel we'd be more genteel

if we didn't have to excrete.
