On the Holy Spirit: Two Poems

by Leonard M Hawkes

"Ghost"

The Wind spoke too
In the days of youth:
That same Wind,
Whispering
Both as witness,
And with subtle wiles--

And the gray sleet
Drizzled cold, and
The Mountains High
Hid themselves
In mystery--
Still, Truth endures.

"Fire"

We, beyond,
Stand near
To feel the Warmth:

For though it burns
Not within our Eyes,
Yet its heat
Comforts still--

Its very presence
Illuminating,
From that known path
Through darkened life.

Those are both very excellent. I especially like the first one. Well done.
