Watching TV

by Joan Serratelli

I sit on one couch
he on the other
I can't see the tv
but that doesn't matter

The baseball game is on
I really don't care
because I cannot see it anyway
I don't even know who's playing

He sits on his couch
I on mine
he watches what he wants
because in his eyes
I don't exist
The tv is his domain

My head is turned
I can't see the tv
But ask me if
that bothers me

I guess if I really cared
I would move
but to see the screen
just ain't my thing

So I just sit on my couch
and he on his
and never the twain shall meet
Ain't marriage great?

Are you in my living room? This sounds like my house!
