Jaime by Meghan HelmichWe break sandcastles
with our fingertips --
you and I.
We are architects
and creationists.
We are running a
barefoot shoreline,
soles smacking the ground.
We sit and stare
at the foamy whitecaps.
We are trapped
beneath waves.
Pushing, crushing
invisible weights
and bubbles.
We are dripping lines
and bloodshot eyes --
you and I.
We are escaping
an empire. 12/04/2003 Posted on 04/08/2006 Copyright © 2024 Meghan Helmich
