Farewell, Farewell

by Mary Ellen Smith

I’ve said goodbye so many times

To prose, to poem, to word and rhyme.

With heavy heart I raise my hand

And waving, here I stand.

The horizon tho so far away

I see the words out there at play

And tease them back for one more game.

So joyful that they came.

But daylight doesn’t give us light

Instead gives way into the night

Like script without confine of pen,

They leave me once again.

Probably most writers experience what you are experiencing now Mary Ellen. You've said it with wistfulness and eloquence.

Hi Mary Ellen, Yes, it does happen to the best of us. It comes back, just don't push yourself. Looks like you have a start with this already. Great write.
