The Whole of it All by Tracy EllenThe ether sparkles and shines
Above my mind
My hands, behind
My body, tied
with the binds of bad ideas
My heart, a broken token, leers
At the universe it encompasses.
Take a walk to the heart of it all
A trip and a fall, a life both large and small
Lived among the stars, in the light of fire and life
In the knife-like light of a 1000 suns
Tugged by the weight of emptiness, a million tons
Of nothing, a dark void sucking at existence
No matter will offer resistance
The mouth of the universe opens to sing
But only stings with fiery breath
The slow creep of death
Dreams are washed back to the beginning,
the edge, the ending
The heart of it all is the whole of it all
The light and the dark are the same
Until named and tamed by our foolish notion
That nothing exists until conceived
And nothing is true or false until believed.
Walk back to the birth canal of warmth and light
Back to that universal heart
To the dark womb of death
Back to the fire, the cold, the start.
