The Great Awakening

by Lisa Marie Brodsky

It happened in a way where
it did not happen
over the course of years
as some would think
or perhaps years did contribute
to the overall snowball effect
of a life bent on dying,
to, suddenly, a life
stretched for living.
More than likely,
however, it did happen
in one day
the Big Bang
where once sloths and goblins
followed my meaty footsteps,
now I do not walk
but levitate
for my thoughts feel like
angora fur and whipped cream
rather than the upside of nails
on skim milk skin.
I am on my honeymoon now
every night has a glorious
sunset
and as I wake every
morning
the sun rises to follow me.
