Topic:When I Grow Up

by Joan Serratelli

When I was a child,
I used to play
The "when I grow Up"
I want to be game

I want to be a writer,
adverising would suit me fine
I don't want to be a wife
or mother- boring
not for me

I did grow up
I became a wife
and mother and never
looked back
I enjoyed my role in life

But the children grew
as children do
and I could hear them play
the "when I grow up"
I want to be game

I love to ask my kids what they want to be when they grow up. I get the most wonderful (and sometimes hilarious) answers! Very cute poem!!

So true. I still play that game at sixteen! Funny how people change.
