Indelible Regrets

by Matthew Taylor

the tongue, a double edged sword,
the pen, a single pointed dart.
a keyboard and a send button
send your words straight to the heart!
the past, we cannot return,
in our minds the words are burned.
said in anger, haste or defense,
look again, they make no sense.
the Bible speaks clearly...
we should guard the tongue,
our bodies get older..
the tongue remains young, brazen, rebelious.
they say older is wiser,
youth wasted on the young..
but we never can allign our age
with the tongue.
think before you talk,
do we ever?..
the next time remember those words
are forever.
thank God for forgiveness,
another command,
and for love , for the nails,
that love never fails.

Author's Note: I had an incredibly rough week, almost lost a dear friend of 40 years, almost got sick from stress, almost gave up, 2 words were the difference, "BUT GOD" , He would not allow it. today I give Him thanks praise and my heart of gratitude. Love is patient, love is kind, slow to anger, harbors no grudges, love never fails.
