alone on pathetic

by Barbara Griffith

lights off
tiptoe between the dusty
metaphors and rhymes

sneak behind the rows
of yesterdays poems
gently snoring

then sit and sigh
tonight I'm alone
on pathetic

that's happened to me once or twice here on left coast time, and even chelle and karl have left the building. it does seem quiet (and i feel almost giddy) when i'm the only one here. your poem reminded me of the chill of predawn --"hall mouse" i was once called, because i read, shivering by nightlight beside my parent's bedroom door. i really enjoyed "lights off, tiptoe,,,behind the rows,,,yesterdays poems gently snoring." completely adorable!!! to me, a good poem evokes wonderful images, and often, powerful memories in the reader. you absolutely capture the feeling of being alone here. thank you.
