living ...[on the edge of miraculous]
by Charlie Morgan
living at the edge of the miraculous
or a boy starts his journey
intrigue discovered by accident
as the lad, on tip-toes
looks.
into the windows darkness.
he sees.
time: suspended by his
intrusion.
as the tots gray matter,
looks for matter.
in
all that he sees.
his world shattered.
every monster.
yet to be.
found under the bed.
now roam his head.
king of the courts
the first around.
the loop.
winner!
fastest go-cart
within
300 feet.
fastest first grader
to be hand-spanked.
a mere shout.
frustration.
goddamnit! (should help).
scream..
as youth goes,
so goes innocence.
wisps of change,
bartered by the Order.
yet, always:
monsters.
that devour.
dreams.
a twinge, unrecognized
stirs in his groin.
A new monster
of human desire.
the strange attraction.
red.
pubic hair.
cousin.
taboo.
brothers bundled in lumpy
comforters.
shielding the chilling wind.
the water fan spurted
monsters as it blew.
our dreams.
away
in some gumbo soup,
awaiting a ladle,
the bowl.
spoon life.
a saturday like any.
noise in laughter,
fear of the unknown,
of what you might find
hidden by the pleats
of a skirt.
strategy in clumsiness.
at the peak of awareness,
co-pilots falling
in tandem.
as she spurns my quick kiss
with a slap.
a grin from her.
a hope from me.
live. brown statue.
lips full.
control.
lush grass.
staining our hearts.
groping, new horizons.
yet to climb.
mothers invention:
time.
to come in.
