You keep trying to reinvent yourself
When the original will do just fine.
Just to achieve something new
When all of the ideas are not mine.

Sometimes it feels like I'm drowning
Adrift in a vast sea of blue.
Floating amidst the sparkling waves
Never knowing exactly just what to do.

The waves close in over my head
As bubbles slowly drift skyward.
I guess that's up, hard to tell here
At the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

You keep trying to reinvent yourself
As if the original just won't do.
I watch, silently bemused
Drowning all the while.
