I went to church,
Sat in the middle
Questioning the riddle
Of life, and my place in it.

While I was in church
No one spoke to me
(Which was no surprise)
Though I would not mind the lies.

I went to church
Not speaking with your God,
Or his son for that matter,
And still thought it quite odd.

I don't keep the Sabbath
By sitting in the middle of a church,
Or by hearing birds singing.
I did go to church, heathen, you say?
