Human Pair of Eyes, Moonlit, But Seeking Beyond by Tom GossThe lack of her cobalt-dipped orb
eyes beside mine halts
the return flight of each celestial beam
sent from the early universe.
In fear, the quantum pieces
of the earth/moon/us
bolted away from home
so much faster than light
that we found ourselves stranded.
Those particles/waves all
want to mount in our dark irises
like a pre-birth sculpture
made of twinkle-cool stars
and gravity-whipping singularities
that can penetrate the future
and instantly assemble all the scars
you collected in life just
to return them to you as a teen
so that you might feel more at home
in your own body.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 03/20/06 at 07:23 AM Tom, you cannot imagine how honored I am that one of my poems inspired you - when it's usually been the other way around. In your images I see celestial bodies come from the sky, returning to human bodies to lift them up again.
