No Strings Attached

by Darren Swift

She passes Peter with a smile;
the garden beckons - JC awaits.
Her chemo complexion fades.

Warm grass beneath bare soles
welcomes her forward through flowers.
The prophet holds her close.

"He has been waiting for you"

She sees him, standing in the colours;
he walks, like the old days, bullet fast,
her man of steel is here.

"Thank you" they say;
He sweeps her into his arms
then jumps into the blue.

JC watches them, distancing;
their love chorusing contrails
through the unearthly skies.

"I do believe a man can fly"

Very clever, romantic and warm. Also, it is a nice touch to see you appear in the piece, JC, or would that be Jesus Christ?

The title of this beautiful poem are words to live by. The message is food for thought and the last line is a lesson in life. Congratulations on becoming The Poet Of The Day.
