For Emily

by Joe Cramer

I am so very proud of you my sweet,
Intelligent, articulate, so sure of yourself.
And yet, you are so unsure, questioning, so cautious,
Life lives now before you, a blooming flower,
Much like you Ems, more good days to come.
I watch you move through the nuances
Of your life, seizing the day, every day.
Sometimes you are so strong, so certain,
Many times you are not.
I love watching you play, your joie de vivre,
As you grow and mature. (A little too fast for me!)
I long for the day when I can share
All of these things with you, how much I love you.
I miss you when you're with me, moreso when not.
I fear these things you will only see
When I am long gone, and only my weak words
Will be left for you. I love you.

This is beautifil. I have written poems for my children at various stages of their lives. It always makes them feel very special. Good job, nice read

This poem was beautiflly written: for the girl she is today and the woman she will become. It brought tears to my eyes.
