Intense

by Joe Cramer

Dante is credited with the Terza rima
In the thirteenth century, as it was
He had fun with the rhyme schema

In that long poem "The Divine Comedy," just because
It can go on as long as the poet desires
With cantos and tercets, of course.

It is thought he wanted to reflect a Christian idea,
That concept of the Holy Trinity.
Though some might think it queer,

The thought the one could indeed be three.
Instead, it's just too long
Too wordy and intense for me.

Instead I'll just play with poetic form.
