Love's Emotions

by Joe Cramer

Love's emotions are always at a cost
The right words soon lose their meanings, alas.
Often enough these feelings are just lost
And yet emotions run high, and then pass.
The way of love is never quite as clear,
Shared sentiments that evoke deep feelings,
Hearts held close, suddenly, no longer dear.
Pained, poignant memories, a mind reeling.
The depth of love alone, fraught to fathom,
Emotions that have run rampant, away.
When feelings come first, lost to abandon
And all hope is lost, at least for today.
It is love's cost that I will always bear,
As to whence it will lead, I know not where.
