For An Eternity

by Joe Cramer

So briefly you were with me, at my side
Tall, slim, blonde, a vision of perfection
I glimpsed you briefly, trying to but hide
My pent up feelings, love and devotion.
Watching you standing there, quiet, alone.
To be next to your heart, to softly touch
Knowing that I can never have you forlorn.
To be part of your life, is it too much?
I know it will not come to fruition.
Your love will never be part of my heart,
That much I know of my intuition.
I knew this way, true, from the very start.
To have loved you for an eternity
Was all that I wanted, or hope to be
.
