The Principles of the Sharing

by Rebecca Lin

Little childish things,
like crayons
or dolls.
I'd keep them in my arms
and swing around.
They weren't yours.
They weren't yours.

Gee, the principles of sharing
never worked for me.

You'd get along well.
You're both my friends
and I can just tell.
But why...
you didn't have to leave.
I didn't see it coming.

That band stirred my soul,
funny sounding, I know.
Okay, fine,
it's their cd you own.

I hope my grandma's alright. I hope to God she is.
Why does it always take EVERYTHING?

Gee, the principles of sharing
always screwed me.

Sometimes we have the right to be selfish. You need something of your own without other people stealing your identity. Very meaningful piece. Makes me think.

Pretty cool "stream of conciseness" type poetics. Nice job.
