eventide

by Peter Humphreys

dark
vaulted
pew
haltered
candlelit
cloister
low

words spoken
vows broken
winter winds
do blow

you caught me
I sought thee
candle lights
do glow

tenderly
starkly
blue
eyes sparkling
lights darkening
eventide
aglow

I held
thee
you kissed
me

deeply

deeply

slow

Amazing how, when even the shadows deepen, we find light in unexpected places... even places where not long before we would have never dremt of going. I especially like the "spirituality", the depth and dimension of this; the idea of cathedral halls, chandeliers with candles, pews, and the feeling of quiet (cloister). It speaks more to the soul than to the mind.

A certain peace, and passion wait at close of day, a time that love thrives on. Lovely flowing poem, Peter, my friend.

Peter, I have amethyst tears misting my eyes because this is so tender and romantically beautiful.
