Seeing You

by Joan Serratelli

Seeing you unhappy
is more than I can bare
My heart is breaking
everytime I see you cry
I cannot stand the pain

There's no joy in living
a life so full of pain
I can't make it any better
All I can do now is pray

I've always wanted better
for you than I had for myself;
a happier life filled with joy
but everytime I look at you face
I can see only unhappiness

If it were in my power,
I'd take away your pain
and put you in a better place
a place of the joy that you deserve
the place you were meant to be

How did things get so messed up?
How did this happen to you?
I closed my eyes, and there you stood
The mirror image of me
