CrowdedTomb by Robin Patterson
Idon'treallyknowwhenI
entered in or ifI've ever
reallyleftthiscrowdedtomb,
forin itIwasconcieved
and thereIlearnedto cling
toits colddarkwalls
tillnumbness isallthat
securedme.
Andinthiscrowdedtomb,
darknessoffersitself
like a securityblanketand
togetherwe shudder atthemorninglight
andscreamwith moans nolongersilent
AndIpress myselfdeeperin
thecrevaces and hidebehindits jaggededge
tryingto deflect thebouncing
soundsof agonyand dred
forwhen Itrytosortthem
out,theydevour melikeacideating
awaymyflesh.
SoIprayfordarknessrestored
andthe silentechoes ofthenight
allthewhileknowingI'm buriedalive
inthiscrowdedtomb,
yetthere
isno
stonethat
holdsme.
