Intercourse of Hearts

by JJ Johnson

Passions beat is no less real than if we had spoken silent verse
The flesh is superficial and my heart does not have sex
It feels what it feels based on its own criteria
Remaining hidden from my mind for reasons still unfathomable
I’ll not penetrate flesh ‘til we’ve shared the intercourse of hearts
To correspond our feelings without words in amorous embrace
Only then to be content with the pleasure of intimate exchange
In mind and heart with body and soul to hear this thunder roll
I crave this more than all I have thirsted for in life
Now all I require is a muse to consummate the music we create

Author's Note: I still have trouble existing on Valentine's day. My muse has been lazy of late, it took me over a week to edit and finish this poem. It almost seems to have been inspired by an earlier work of mine called, The Forset Or The Trees, about writing a poem while making love. This one is more of an emotional connection leading to a collaberation of intimate, but not sexual, inspiration. JJ

JJ, I think maybe you time spent with this has paid off well. This seems full of heartfelt meaning much beyond surface emotions. High marks all across.
