he is.

by Emily G Myers

you looked at me and said
(what we'd both been thinking)
"he is dangerous."

he is.
and he's everything
we've lamented losing
for the past few years.

he's everything
and nothing
we've always wanted.

he is the potential
and the disappointmet.

he is
his own
and only his.

(though he
may pretend
to be ours
for a moment.)

I would have been okay today
had he not called me 'best friend'
(single quotes like his)
or loved me back.

he is.
he always has been.

he was.

Author's Note: I'll never understand how someone can just drop a friend. just ignore them. just be done with them like they never cared about each other. John did it. Jonna did it. and now him.

Who can figure this? Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.

Sad, I don't understand how it is done either.

I'm dorry for your loss. Do not makr this experience make you into a cynical person (like me). Over the last few years I have lost alot of people in my life due to yje fact that I am ill. YOU expressed exactly how I feel when people drop out of my life. In the long run, you're better off without him! Excellent writing! Joan

this is poetry. this is truth. raw, painful, beautiful.
