scissored mannikins

by Charlie Morgan

...cover the display so the passers-by
won't see anything but fine lines,
proper tones and life-like features

because we musn't disparage hope.

hide forever the broken loveless arms,
and the stained-forever smile
that exudes its oils of lustre.

and leave us bound to the illusion
that is an allusion to the real
and let it be one day found,

for it shall be forgivness.
