::seasons change subtly:: by Bethany Lee
On being a mother, an unconditional lover.
We have created an extended innocence, branching genealogy.
What higher divine process could there be?
We spent time grinding apples,
now we're sipping splendid apple cider.
churning warmth in the belly, the heart
taking part in familial devotion.
a kindling emotion
blazing through the cold days to keep us satisfied.
Yet what more do we need
than this little limb on our family tree?
growing on solid ground. 07/06/2005 Author's Note: recently discovered poem i wrote a while ago...tucked in the pages of a notebook...
