How You Felt by J. P. DaviesA twisted knot of flesh
encircling my eyes,
not my own but yours,
and a strangers.
When I sleep, I see you,
and burn away these hands
that once touched you.
I am furious,
but I deserve this.
Now I understand,
how you felt,
when you looked
into your eyelids and saw
the two of us.
I did this to myself,
and now I have to watch you,
feed this sickness back to me
every night before I sleep.
