Untitled: 01/29/06 by Lacey Smithdragging lips across the
skeleton of my skin i
purchase new imagery for this
statue of you
the wet pause of your
silhouette, my breast,
ringing warmly in the hush of
night, ready for arms
that twist and mangle,
the awkward touch of
barely there, barely
pressing in--
i count all of your
pores and sigh words
into the bend of
your arms 01/29/2006 Author's Note: A moment with a lover...like any other poem ever, of course...

Posted by Julie Adams on 04/05/06 at 09:40 PM I love this piece...hardly like "every other poem ever"...rather the poem opens and closes with fresh and vibrant imagery, corners of the anatomy chosen well and woven or "tangled" into the voice of the poem as it builds...all the best, jewels |
