How the poem touched me

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

Like you had taken a snap shot of my soul from different times and different places,

you captured it and put it on the page.

You see it through my eyes so my solitude gives way to understanding.

Then I see it through your eyes and have a deeper compassion for myself and ones like me.

It is a language I didn't know that I knew,

a voice I didn't know existed,

it reminded me of who I was and who I could have become.

Thank you for the beautiful web of words that you so delicately wove.

Author's Note: inspired by a poem by Jon Kary..i completed related to the poem in many different ways. Even if I didn't see any of myself in it, I would still consider it a work of art.
