goodbye mouse by Jim BenzFor just a moment, a tiny mouse
stops, mid-skitter in the dead
center of my living room floor, and our eyes
lock briefly: a shared moment
of recognition. I feel as if
I've known this mouse
since time began, and here we are,
met again, kindred spirits bound
by the vagaries of experience, enslaved
by our mutual needs
for food, safety, comfort, and then
a cat springs out of nowhere. 02/05/2006 Posted on 02/05/2006 Copyright © 2024 Jim Benz

Posted by Soulo Jacob Bourgeau on 02/05/06 at 05:55 AM "mid-skitter" is great. But I'm wondering...if you and the mouse are kindred spirits - what springs out of nowhere towards you? |
