A night that never was

by Traci Mabats

there is a part of me
that loves
a part of you
a memory
trying to hold on
to something
I've come to forget
over these past years
a part of me that
is still young
and hopefull
that still tries
to count the stars in the sky
oh, if you would be my
Renissance man
I would be your Mona Lisa
under a long lost summer moon
I would show you my secret smile
for just a moment
before time swept us aside
now that girl
so carefully kept
wrapped up in
regrets and responibilities
she has aged
but still remembers
the way the night
used to feel
alive and pulsing
beneath my feet

Author's Note: Renissance?? I can't spell and I don't know where my dictionary is. Blah!
