For a hero(Dedication/Inspirational)

by Vimal Rony

We are all driftwoods set adrift by life.
Washed ashore to the la la land,
where even the strongest wings
can't take you high
if the spirits are down.

If a circumstantial wind blows hard
be not just another fish out of water.
But an oyster carrying a pearl.
From being worthless underneath the ocean
to priceless on land.

Adaptible beings, we have always been.
From stone age to steel. But inbetween
hearts have been stoned and a steel cage
surrounds compassion.
But you will break free and be a hero

Life might be a kaleidoscope that changes colors
with one flick of time's hands.
But you will rise up even from the darkest horizon.
Like the diligent sun that freshly paints the sky each day.

You will always fly high,
fluttering your inner wings of intellect.
And the winds of creativity it fans
will awaken the sensible sides of even the ones
who've drawn their blinds on the Creator's soul.

Please keep fanning and awaken many
'Cos, you are the real hero.

Author's Note: This poem is for Franscesco (the fellow poet and my friend, Christina's cousin) who is just 15 yrs old and battled with a rare form of cancer and survived( even though he had to sacrfice one of his legs, which itself is no small deal). I wrote this to inspire him to keep on going (but actually he inspired me coz of his sheer inner strength) Hats off to guys like him who, even at such a tender age, without knowing supplies us with that power of survival and the knowledge that while tommorow is like waiting for the sun to rise on the horizon today is the day where you can smell the fragrance and hence to plant a seed each today for the beautiful roses that will blossom every tommorow. And yes this is dedicated to all of the other people too who have been through similar circumstances. Thx guys.
