I Never Knew He Smoked

by Jon-Jacob F Deal

I sit down and
He sits down and
I really don't know what to say
So He reaches into His jacket and
Pulls out a piece
Packs it with patient experience
And lets me have the first hit.
"Hey," I start, and pass the pipe
"I'm sorry about the war and shit--
You know, going against Your Father's
Commandments and whatnot..."
"It's cool," He says, exhaling His rip
"I forgive you."
And just like that, it's all okay
'Cause I'm high,
God is real,
And everything will be all right.

I really hope it's cool with him.
